What Is Braid Reinforced Silicone Tubing ?

Silicone tubing has long been used in the medical field and food field, as it meets that industry’s requirements of cleanliness and non-toxicity. Another of silicone’s major features—resistance to extreme temperature variations—has enabled its use in applications where a flexible tubing is needed to handle temperatures not possible with other plastic or rubbers.

Being a rubber-like thermoset material, silicone tubing and hose is extremely pliable and elastic, and it is not altered by the effects of weather. It generally exhibits inertness toward U.V., radiation, and ozone making it an excellent choice for electrically-associated applications.

We supply reinforced silicone tubing with platinum silicone inside, polyester braiding or glass fibre braiding and an external translucent, red, blue high mechanical strength silicone or platinum- cured silicone.

This reinforced silicone tube complies with FDA standard CFR21 section 177.2600, for foodstuff contact applications and medical grade. Especially useful for sterilising processes which need the non adherence and high temperature resistance properties of silicone.

Technical characteristics of reinforced silicone tubing:

• Working temperature range: -70 ºC to +220 ºC.

• Hardness: 70 +/- 5 º Shore A.

• Wall thickness tolerance: +/- 0.3mm.

• Especially indicated for pressure(up to 9 bar) and vacuum applications.

• Smooth non adherent inside surface.

• Inert and biologically neutral(FDA grade silicone).

• Very small bending radius.

• Can be sterilised. Does not leave any odour or taste.

• Can be supplied with fitted couplings.

For orders above 2000 m, we can supply reinforced silicone tubing in any basic colour and even with aramide braiding.

Reinforced tubing is the previous step to silicone hose reinforced with stainless steel. Even though the pressure resistance is less, these reinforced silicone hoses are more flexible, lighter and cleaner to use, having very small bending radius (so difficult to pinch), and a more affordable cost.

Reinforced silicone hoses are the definite item for systems working with sticky fluids, sterilising processes, vapour, pressure, diffcult-to-reach places, etc. The possibility of having different external colours allows easy recognition of the reinforced silicone hose in different applications in the same factory.
