2026 Pet Webbing Material Guide: Nylon, Polyester or PVC Coated?

When sourcing collars, leashes and harnesses, webbing material directly impacts product performance, customer reviews and return rates. Nylon, polyester and PVC‑coated webbing remain the three mainstream options for pet gear, each built for different use cases.

Nylon Webbing Soft and stretchy, nylon absorbs sudden pulls from excited dogs, making it comfortable for daily wear. It comes in plenty of colors, great for everyday collars and indoor harnesses. Downsides: soaks up water, dries slowly and can develop odors. UV exposure leads to fading over time.

Polyester Webbing Low‑stretch and dimension‑stable. It dries quickly, stands up well to sunlight, and works perfectly for sublimation custom printing. Ideal for outdoor harnesses and branded pet accessories. Downside: little shock absorption against hard pulls.

PVC Coated Webbing A woven core sealed with PVC coating. Fully waterproof, mud and pet saliva wipe right off, no frayed edges. Good cost option for mass‑produced waterproof pet items. Note: standard PVC gets stiff in cold weather. Export orders for cold‑climate markets need low‑temperature resistant formula and valid safety certifications.
