Xiamen North Station Launches High-Speed Rail Pet Transportation Service

 

China Railway Nanchang Bureau Group will launch a pilot program for high-speed rail pet transportation at Xiamen North Station and Fuzhou Station starting October 15, covering 52 trains including G412.

The service is limited to single cats or dogs weighing under 15 kilograms, transported in specialized carriers stored in the train's express cargo compartments. These compartments feature temperature and humidity monitoring systems along with noise reduction technology. Fees follow a tiered mileage pricing structure, initially discounted by 30% to 360 yuan per animal for distances under 1,000 kilometers. Dedicated staff conduct inspections every two hours throughout the journey.

Passengers may book through the 12306 app and must present quarantine certificates and identification documents for processing.

 

To better meet the needs of passengers traveling with pets,
railway authorities will further expand the pilot program for high-speed rail pet transportation services starting October 15, 2025.

New high-speed rail pet transportation services will be added at Fuzhou Station and Xiamen North Station.

Currently, the "Pet Transportation" service option is available on the Railway 12306 app,
with Xiamen North Station included among the listed stations.

Following the expansion of the pilot program,

the nationwide high-speed rail express pet transport pilot program

will encompass a total of 40 stations,

with the number of eligible trains increasing to 52.

 

Specifically, at Xiamen North Station and Fuzhou Station,

the designated pet transport train is G412,

which serves destinations including Hangzhou and Shanghai.

 

The pilot high-speed rail pet transportation service charges tiered rates based on distance traveled, offering a 30% discount during the initial phase along with complimentary basic insurance coverage of 2,000 yuan.

Rates are as follows:

Up to 1,000 kilometers: 360 yuan per pet
1,000–1,500 kilometers: 460 yuan per pet
1,500–2,000 kilometers: 660 yuan per pet
Over 2,000 kilometers: 860 yuan per pet

 

Pet Shipping Allowance
The pet shipping allowance per ticketed passenger has been increased from one to two pets, accommodating families traveling with multiple pets.

 

Optimized Display
The 12306 app now features a "Pet" icon for high-speed rail routes offering pet shipping services. A dedicated booking entry for high-speed rail pet shipping has been added to the ticket purchase confirmation page, allowing passengers to book directly.

 

Enhanced Offline Channels
Non-ticketed passengers may arrange high-speed rail pet transportation services when capacity remains available.

 

Non-ticketed passengers must contact the service department by phone to schedule arrangements 2–5 days prior to the planned shipment date.

 

Non-ticketed passengers are charged the standard rate and may ship only one pet per person.

 

With the launch of high-speed rail pet transportation services, traveling with pets will become more convenient, effectively addressing the challenges of leaving pets behind or the difficulties of carrying them on long journeys.
