Pet Traditional Chinese Medicine Emotional Regulation Category Explodes

The 2025 White Paper on the Traditional Chinese Medicine Pet Industry reveals that joint care products for dogs and stress relief products for cats have achieved annual growth rates exceeding 60%. Bioconversion technology has reduced the bitterness of traditional Chinese medicine by 62%, boosting cat consumption rates to 81%. Content related to "pet emotional comfort" on the Douyin platform has surpassed 5 billion views. Tongrentang's "Anshuning" stress relief tablets for cats sell over 20,000 units monthly, with each tablet priced at 128 yuan and still in short supply.

As "premium pet care" transitions from slogan to daily practice, the convergence of traditional Chinese medicine and the pet industry is moving beyond the era of "one-size-fits-all products" into a new phase of "scenario-based innovation + personalized services." Driven by consumer demand, supported by specialized policies, and enabled by technological implementation, this sector is not only filling gaps in pet health management but also reshaping the value logic of the pet consumption market.

Segmented policies establish a differentiated support system. Compared to universal policies, local initiatives in 2025 emphasize "targeted supplementation": Zhejiang Province launched the "Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine Talent Cultivation Program," offering an annual skill subsidy of 12,000 yuan to practitioners holding traditional Chinese veterinary medicine licenses, while pet hospitals adding traditional Chinese veterinary medicine departments can receive 50,000 yuan in renovation funding;

Beijing released the Technical Specifications for Specialized Traditional Chinese Medicine Products for Pets, establishing ingredient ratios and efficacy standards for eight product categories-including canine joint supplements and feline stress relief products-for the first time, filling regulatory gaps in this niche sector. At the national level, efforts focus on strengthening "industry-academia-research collaboration."

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has established five "Pet Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinical Research Bases" in Jiangsu and Sichuan provinces. These bases facilitate joint research between universities and enterprises on TCM treatment protocols for challenging conditions like renal disease in senior dogs and feline fatty liver disease, with individual projects eligible for up to 8 million yuan in funding.

To effectively prevent pets from becoming stressed or falling ill, it is essential to equip them with the appropriate collars, leashes, and harnesses. This helps curb behaviors such as excessive wandering and sniffing, thereby avoiding situations that could lead to pet stress-related illnesses.
