Taking a glance at the pet market, most of the dog leashes we see are in nylon, leather or chain.

Many pet owners have difficulty in which one to choose. Actually, it really depends on your budget and your dog.

NYLON

As a man-made fiber, nylon is the most commonly-used material. It is inexpensive and durable. Nylon is a good choice for the moist climate or environment because it prevents the leash from getting wet.

However, the nylon dog leash has some drawbacks. Dogs especially big dogs with sharp teeth can chew it without sweating too much. Besides, when the dog is pulling the leash forward very hard, there will be great friction between your skin and the leash and thus your hand will get burn.

LEATHER

Generally speaking, leather leaches are of higher quality and of course it is durable, too. Also, leather has a softer touch as it will soften the skin due to the natural give. However, it is considerably more expensive. And, it takes quite a little work to maintain the quality. You should use a leather conditioner or something.

CHAIN

We know that chain leash is in metal, therefore, it is very hard for dogs to chew the chain leash. That being said, it is very good for the larger or stronger breed.

The primary drawback of chain is so obvious: it is very heavy. So, if you have a small puppy, it would be a good idea to choose a thinner chain which is as light as possible, or, just choose the leather one.

WHAT IS NEW

You might have seen some new dog leashes or collars in other different material. Yes, it is called coated webbing. Made from polyester and soft plastic, Waterproof, musk proof, slick surface, hard-wearing, soft & light and greatly tensile, all of these advantages makes it the ideal material for dog collar, leash and harness.
