HDPE (High-density polyethylene) is a thermoplastic derived from petroleum. It is a versatile product with low moisture absorption, excellent impact resistance, high tensile strength, and good chemical and corrosion resistance. HDPE’s properties make it a preferred choice for a wide variety of indoor and outdoor applications such as bottles, furniture, kick plates, fuel tanks, lockers, playground equipment, packaging, food processing equipment, and boat, RV, and emergency vehicle interiors.

HDPE does not splinter, rot, or retain harmful bacteria. It is also recyclable and extremely resistant to the harmful effects of cleaning agents. In addition, HDPE is a relatively inexpensive option for many applications compared to metal or glass.

HDPE can be easily cut, machined, and fabricated. It can also be welded and/or mechanically fastened.

 LDPE (Low-density polyethylene) is a monomer thermoplastic with good impact and chemical resistance. LDPE is lighter and more flexible than HDPE, which makes it a great choice for prosthetic devices, most of which are either drape formed or vacuum formed. Its impact resistance makes it ideal for impact pads, while its ease of machinability, thermoforming performance and resistance properties make it a great choice for fabricated parts where impact, chemical, or corrosion resistance is demanded.

In addition to having no moisture absorption, LDPE meets food handling guidelines making it ideal for manufacturing various containers, bottles, bags and certain laboratory equipment. LDPE is stress relieved and has a “natural” color.
