There was a story on this festival,let's see what happened in the acient China !

A long, long time ago, in the land of Chu, there lived a great poet and loyal official named Qu Yuan. His name was Qu Yuan. Qu Yuan was dedicated to his country, advocating the promotion of the virtuous and the capable, advocating the enrichment of the country and the strengthening of the army, joining hands with Qi to fight against Qin, and hoping that the state of Chu would become prosperous. However, his passion and vision were strongly opposed and maliciously slandered by the nobleman Zilan and others. Qu Yuan was trapped by his gluttony and lost his official position. He had no choice but to leave the capital city and was exiled to the Yuan and Xiang valleys.

During his exile, Qu Yuan was full of worries about the country and the people, and he poured all these complex emotions into such immortal poems as "Li Sao", "Heavenly Questions" and "Nine Songs". However, the heavy blows of fate did not stop there. In 278 B.C., the Qin army, like a ferocious beast, broke through the capital of Chu. As Qu Yuan watched his beloved motherland being invaded, his heart ached as if it were twisted by a knife. However, he was so attached to his country that he could not bear to give it up. In the end, on the fifth day of the fifth month, Qu Yuan wrote his final work "Huai Sha", embraced a huge stone, and resolutely threw himself into the Miluo River, composing a magnificent patriotic song with his life.

When the news of Qu Yuan's death came, the people of Chu were deeply grieved and rushed to the Miluo River to pay tribute to this great loyal minister. The fishermen quickly rowed their boats and anxiously salvaged his real body back and forth on the river. One fisherman, with the respect and love for Qu Yuan, took out the prepared food such as rice balls and eggs, and threw them into the river, chanting under his breath, hoping that the fish, lobsters and crabs would not bite the body of Dr. Qu when they were full. When the people saw this, they followed suit. An old physician also rushed to pour a jar of yellow wine into the river, saying that he wanted to stun the dragon and water beasts, so that they would not hurt Dr. Qu.

But we are worried about the rice ball was eaten by the dragon, so some people came up with a neem leaf wrapped rice, wrapped around the colorful silk outside the way, and then slowly developed into dumplings. Since then, every year on the fifth day of May, people will hold a dragon boat race, we paddle hard, as if in pursuit of Qu Yuan's figure; will eat zongzi, so that this unique food to carry the thoughts of Qu Yuan; will also drink xionghuang wine, inherited that guardianship of the heart. In this way, the custom of the Dragon Boat Festival has been passed down as a special way to commemorate the patriotic poet Qu Yuan, and after a thousand years, it is still continuing in the land of China, telling this touching story.
