There are three main ingredients for the outer layer covered with a coated webbing: TPU, silicone, and PVC. Now PVC is the most popular PVC cassette due to lower costs and soft touch. 

Each type of material has advantages and disadvantages. We can compare TPU coated tape and polyester PVC coated strap by referring to the followings.

1. Hardness: TPU hardness is usually shore 80a, while PVC is shore 90a. Each type of plastic material has a range of violence. Various defeats cause materials to be used in several fields. Both TPU and PVC have a variety of violence, so these two materials are widely used in our daily lives.

2. Resistance: TPU wear resistance is better than PVC resistance. For shell durability, TPU coated cassettes are better than PVC. This applies to the best integration performance of TPU and Poliester ropes.

3. High/low temperature durability: TPU material can maintain stable properties between -30 ~ 120 ° C, while the working temperature range is generally between -15 ~ 50 ° C.

4. Oil resistance: TPU oil resistance is better than PVC resistance.

Class 5 Environmental Protection: TPU materials have excellent performance and environmental protection and do not contain illegal materials such as softeners and FTalat, while PVC material has problems with environmental protection.

6. Odor:  When we cut the TPU tape with a laser machine, it will give out a lighter aroma than PVC. 

7. Anti-aging performance: TPU is better than PVC for resistance performance.  TPU can endure 3 times longer than PVC when it is stored in natural internal environments.

In short, although TPU and PVC materials have their own advantages and disadvantage. TPU coated strap has better  performance than PVC, however, PVC is much cheaper. Therefore, it all goes down to your requirements and of course budget.
